Connection

Sony BRC PTZ cameras connect to the Cyanview RCP over Ethernet (IP). Connect the camera and the RCP to the same network switch or directly via Ethernet cable.

Configuration

Camera Configuration

Configure the following settings on the camera before connecting:

Network / IP Settings

Set a static IP address on the camera in the same subnet as the RCP.

Remote Control Enable

Enable IP remote control in the camera's network menu.

note

Refer to the Sony BRC camera's operation manual for the exact menu paths — they vary between models.

RCP Configuration

Add the camera as an IP camera.

  • Brand: Sony
  • Model: select the appropriate BRC model (e.g. BRC-X1000)
  • Enter the camera IP address

Troubleshooting

Camera icon stays RED / camera not detected

Check in this order:

  1. Verify camera network settings — confirm the camera has a static IP and that IP remote control is enabled (see Camera Configuration above).
  2. Ping the camera from a computer — set the computer to the same IP range and ping the camera IP to confirm basic network connectivity.
  3. Ping the RCP from the same computer — confirms the RCP and camera are on the same subnet.
  4. Check the RCP IP — the RCP must have an IP address in the same range as the camera; follow the network configuration guide.
  5. Check the correct model is selected — verify the BRC model selected in the RCP matches the physical camera.
  6. Power cycle — restart the camera and retry.

A specific parameter is not controllable

  • Confirm the correct BRC model is selected in the RCP — the Matrix control, for example, is not available on the BRC-H900.
  • Check that the camera and RCP are both on the latest firmware version.
  • Some controls may be disabled when the camera is in a specific mode or when certain settings conflict.

Pan / Tilt or Zoom not working

  • Confirm the camera is not in a locked-out or preset-only mode.
  • Check that PTZ control is not blocked by a hardware lock on the camera.

Tally not working

  • Verify the tally setting is enabled in the camera's network or tally configuration menu.
  • Confirm the RCP tally assignment is correctly mapped to this camera.
