Can the CI0 power a camera from PoE only?
Yes, the CI0 can typically power and control one mini-camera on each port. It is not meant to power larger camcorders that normally use their own battery or power supply; in that case the control cable usually does not include power.
Some camcorders, such as Sony ENG cameras, can power the CI0 from the camera through the correct cable. In that case the CI0 does not need PoE or an external power supply. See CI0 power for details.
How many CI0 units can one RCP control?
There is no fixed limit. You can use as many CI0 units as needed, as long as each camera configuration selects the correct CI0 and port.
Can several RCPs control the same CI0?
No. A CI0 can only be used by one controller at a time. Once a CI0 is used in the configuration of one RCP, GWY, or RIO, it is not available to other controllers until it is removed from that configuration.
If one camera needs to be controlled from multiple RCPs, use a multi-operator workflow through REMI or a GWY instead of connecting several RCPs directly to the same CI0.
Can I set a custom CI0 IP address?
The CI0 is designed to use its factory IP address and local broadcast discovery. Changing the CI0 IP address is not a supported way to make it work on routed, VLAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, or complex networks. Use a RIO when you need more network functionality.
RCP, GWY, and RIO devices can be configured with multiple IP addresses. This is useful for reaching IP cameras, technical networks, static internet access, VPNs, VLANs, or special routes. See Configure IP addresses.
For exceptional cases such as an IP conflict or site security requirement, the CI0 manual includes an unsupported custom-IP procedure: Unsupported custom IP configuration.
Can I use a CI0 over Wi-Fi?
No. Do not use a CI0 for Wi-Fi camera control workflows. The CI0 has no built-in Wi-Fi support and limited network capabilities. It depends on local broadcast discovery and keeps low-level camera protocol communication between the RCP and the camera interface.
Use a RIO instead when the camera position needs Wi-Fi, routing, REMI, cellular, or any network setup beyond a simple local wired LAN.
Can the CI0 be used as a generic Ethernet-to-serial converter?
No. The CI0 uses a proprietary protocol between itself and the RCP, GWY, or RIO. It is not a standard RS-485-to-IP bridge and cannot pass serial data to third-party camera software or any control surface other than a Cyanview RCP, GWY, or RIO.
The CI0 does not power on from the DC input but works on PoE
Some early CI0 units have a longer bushing on the DC socket. Standard 5.5 × 2.1 mm barrel plugs with a shorter shaft may not reach the socket contact.
Checks:
- Try a different DC plug, as shaft length varies by manufacturer.
- If the bushing is too long, approximately 2 mm can be trimmed from the outer thread to allow standard plugs to seat fully.

Is there documentation on the GPIO-8 cable to make it by ourselves?
The GPIO-8 is an active cable with electronic components and IDs for auto-detection.
Can different camera models with different control protocols be controlled by the same RCP system?
Yes, all protocols we support can be mixed on a single controller, even the CI0 can use different protocols on each port.
What is discovery?
Cyanview device have an automatic discovery functionality.
RCP will discover Cyanview devices connected to the network.
When connecting a new Cyanview device to the network, it is automatically discovered by the already present RCP.
The discovery page displays the list of the discovered devices.
This allows easy network configurations verification.
What is RCP dashboard?
The dashboard page is an extended monitoring page.

From the dashboard page, you can:
- Verify the RCP health (memory, temperature, etc...).
- Execute ping command.
- Use the MQTT client interface.
Is there a possibility to connect a separate Tally Light to the CI0?
Yes. The supply voltage on each CI0 serial port can be switched by tally state using the GPIO page in the RCP or RIO web interface. This makes it possible to connect a tally light directly to the port. See Pin 6 Power and Tally Output for details.
